Hey guys...
Okay. No time for intros. Let's get down to business.
(Comment if you thought of Mulan when you read that :D)
Non-spoiler section:
This book flew by. I read it in maybe an hour or two, and it felt so much shorter than the first book!
I highly recommend this book! It was really good! I think I would rate it 4/5 stars. This is the second book in Lea Clark's (GOTY 2016) book series. This book follows Lea's second week in vacation at Brazil. She travels to a village close to the Amazon rainforest, and goes to explore! She travels with her big brother Zac, who is studying in Brazil for a year. They had to leave there parents in Praia Tropical, due to events from the past book. Lea finds an injured baby sloth in the Amazon rainforest, and she is in desperate need of help. (Back summary below) I really recommend this, even if you didn't really enjoy the first book. It's quite a bit better in my opinion, and I enjoyed it a lot!
Spoilers!!!
I loved watching Lea's character development from tourist-y, to blog mode, into understanding nature and trying her best to help it. The book may seem a little slow, but I think it was a little more comfortable to read then the first book. (If that makes any sense!) I think the book got a lot better after Lea found Amanda, but it was still good before.
The only thing I really didn't fancy was Zac. He went from total grump to best brother ever in a matter of two seconds, and then went back again. The scene with Lea asking him to hit the ant mountain just annoyed me a little! Lea just tipped over the edge, and was only thinking about impressing her class, but Zac overreacted. I would have said something a bit more understanding... like, "Lea, this isn't a good idea. They are minding there own business and we shouldn't harm them."
Ta-da! Problem solved. :)
But I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one. It was cool how Lea used her blog sort of like Ama's travel journal and she recorded everything. By the end, I was just so happy! Every scene with Amanda the sloth just filled me with pure happiness and IT WAS SO ADORABLE! :D :D :D I loved it soooo much!
Non Spoilers!!!!
This book had a good premise and I am wondering what the third book will have to offer. I'm pretty sure it will about Camila visiting Lea in St. Louis.
That's it for today! If you have read this book, what was your opinion on it? Did you enjoy it? Do you prefer the first book or second book? I will have a review/booktalk of the next book in this series (Lea and Camila) next Monday! Thank you guys so much for all the views on my last blogpost, Interview with the AGtuber- 4HappyHippos! (You should totally check that out if you haven't yet!) 29 pageviews in a day? Thanks guys! :)
